Twin Star Exorcists

Grotesque monsters known as Impurities reside in Magano, a realm parallel to the present day. Exorcists purify these evil apparitions to protect the people. Rokuro Enmadou is opposed to becoming an exorcist, even though he has the talent to be one, but an oracle gives him the title of "Twin Star Exorcist," the name bestowed upon married exorcists. Benio Adashino, the girl who receives the title along with Rokuro, is determined to exorcise all the Kegare, or Impurities, in the world. The two find themselves wrapped up in more and more battles together as the Twin Star Exorcists...

What started out okay quickly went downhill. After watching the first episode I thought it might be a little bit interesting and was at least worth continuing. By the sixth episode I completely lost interest and I probably won't bother watching the next episode when it comes out.  The artwork isn't bad nor is the animation. It reminds me of a lot of other kids anime. The animation and sound aren't anything to complain about. The problem lies in the story and characters.  Rokuro once wanted to become the strongest exorcist but after seeing his friends slaughtered one day, he left that dream behind. Despite living in the dorm for exoricists, he refuses to take any part in it until a female exorcists his own age shows up. After that, he is tricked into fighting the female exorcist to prove that they are the strongest exorcists that will one day marry and give birth to the truely strongest exorcist. And that is when it started to fall apart for me. They are in middle school. Marriage and children is way off in the future. It kind of takes away from the importance of the main characters and makes them less interesting. Also, it ended up confusing the focus of the story. The focus is no longer clear and it doesn't seem like it's on the right thing either. Overall though the story just becomes tedious after six episodes of this strong exorcist who is afraid of being an exorcist and tries to avoid it. The emotional struggle is poorly portrayed which makes it worse. What I really hate though is the main character. I hate how he acts, how he thinks, what he says, and I'm not a big fan of his looks either. Honestly, most of the time, the way he acts, I just feel unbearably embarressed for him!! He is a child, but he acts too childish and I just can't stand the heavy feeling of embarrassment for him I get everytime he opens his mouth! It's too much. It's not the first time I have felt embarrassed for a character but usually it's funny or it's occasional so it's not a big deal. In this case, I just want to turn it off. It's almost constant and I can't stand watching him. It's not funny either. It's not even slightly humorous. I don't think words can do justice to the things wrong with the character. I say embarrasing because that is the best thing I can come up with. And it just keeps going on and on and on and on and on. If his character wasn't so unbearable to watch, it would be a mediocre anime that would probably interest mostly younger audiences, however, I don't think it can manage that now. The personality of the female lead isn't much better and the way she acts and the way others act around her is far from appealing. I quit. I just quit. These characters just keep getting worse and the story isn't worth it. The story is weak anyway.
