Eromanga Sensei

Masamune Izumi is a high school student who writes light novels. Sagiri Izumi is a shut-in who never leaves her room. A year ago, she became Masamune’s little sister. But one day, Masamune discovers a shocking twist—The artist "Eromanga Sensei," who has been drawing illustrations for his novels, is none other than his little sister Sagiri! His cute little shut-in of a sister, who has been living under his roof, is using an obscene pen name and draws lewd illustrations?!

STORY: A totally generic dude is getting boners over his 12 year old sister who's an ecchi artist and has an obsession with panties, but at the same time she's shown as an innocent child who can't even speak up properly. They're not blood related, so somehow it's all considered okay. Then there are a couple more loli girls (who are supposed to be 12, look like they're 10, and act like they're 6) who have the hots for the protagonist, and that's about it, plot-wise. The comedy aspect of the show consists of "Oh no, you're seeing me in my panties. Baka! *whack*" scenes. ANIMATION: Do you enjoy watching little 12 year old girls' butts, chests, panties, legs, and lip licking from every possible angle? You're gonna love this. Other than that, it's a generic moe animation, where everything has to be super colourful and cute. SOUND: Wailing. So much wailing. And forgettable sountrack, including the generic moe opening and ending. Better turn the volume down or your neighbours will call the cops. CHARACTERS: I honestly don't even know which character is the most awful. The main protagonist is completely uninteresting and basically has no personality whatsoever, Sagiri is just ridiculus, whether she's shown as the innocent little sister or as the perverted artist, Megumi can't stop talking about dick, Elf is the bossy tsundere of the bunch, and don't even let me start on mushroom head. Long story short, there's not a single likable character. OVERALL: This show has to be every pedophile's dream. Sadly, I'm not one. Watched for the Anime Lottery Game SPRING 2017

Positive *I want to start this review with my appreciation for the music in this anime. Both the opening song “Hitorigoto” and the ending song “Adrenaline” were so much fun. They were so uplifting and fitted the light atmosphere of this anime. I am truly addicted to both of them and I feel that both of them have a good chance to be nominated for Best Opening and Best Ending song at the end of the year. For a video review, check out my Youtube channel. Link on my profile page.  *The main thing that made me like this anime from the very first episode was the comedy. This was such a hilarious anime and the way how it jumped back and forward between your normal comedy that you expect from A1 and ecchi comedy was so good. And there’s quite a lot of ecchi comedy in E-S but it’s that type of ecchi comedy that I really like with not too much fan service but more putting the comedy in the speech. So it was hilarious, the final episode was to die for. I had to pause the episode a few times because I couldn’t take it anymore, it was so funny. E-S is one of the funniest anime’s that I have seen this year. *An extra point that added to the comedy was the personality of Sagiri. The fact that such a cute, little loli sister would actually be a total pervert elevated the ecchi comedy in this anime to a whole new level. And on top of that, Sagiri was so damn cute. I am normally not a big fan of loli’s but my God was Sagiri adorable. She had so many cute scenes in this anime which in turn collided with other scenes where she was being a total pervert. So not only was she adorable as fuck but her double personality gave her character extra depth. *Another character that I want to say something about is Yamada. As with loli’s I am not a big fan of tsundere’s. But with Yamada, I genuinely liked her and that was one of the first times, together with Taiga from Toradora that I liked the tsundere character and that I wouldn’t mind the MC ending up with her. Now the chance of that happening is rather small because of the set-up of this story. Negative *Which immediately is my biggest problem with this anime. Even before this anime started it was already known that it would contain a form of incest. Not surprisingly since the story is from the hand of the mangaka who also wrote Oreimo, a well known incest manga and anime. And you guys must know by now that incest, even this non blood related bullshit, is one of the 3 things that I absolutely despise in anime. Now in this anime I find myself lucky since the incest is kept to a minimum. There are some indications now and then that point towards an incestuous relationship between Masamune and Sagiri but it is kept very low profile and also the relationship never actually happens. *And this is the reason why, as I said in my general review of the Spring 2017 season, I am happy and sad at the same time that E-S is over and why I’m not sure if I want to see a second season. For the comedy definitely, for the characters definitely since with the introduction of Tomoe in the final episode, we have a new female character with interests in Masamune. But I fear that if we get a second season the incestuous feelings between Masamune and Sagiri will get way more profound and abundant. And that would ruin this anime which I now loved. Conclusion So as a conclusion, E-S was an absolutely hilarious anime, I loved the ecchi comedy, I loved the characters with Sagiri in the lead but I’m not sure if I want to see another season of it because of the incoming incestuous relationship. But this first season of Eromanga-sensei I’m going to award it with a well deserved 4 stars. If you’re a fan of ecchi comedy anime’s or Oreimo than you should definitely give E-S a watch.

If you're a 13-year-old who wants a watered-down do-over on Oreimo, search no further! This is everything you're looking for.  If you're not...get ready for one of the guiltiest pleasures in recent anime memory. Or, maybe discomfiting pleasures. Or just a gross, miserable slog. Depending. Because Eromanga Sensei is a ridiculous, uncomfortable, hilarious, unabashedly shameful series built on a parade of squirm-inducing fanservice lolis, painted with a harem formed under circumstances so strange and irrelevant that even the characters seem to believe they're doing it out of obligation to anime conventions rather than growing emotional connections, and furnished with a plot that seems less concerned with exploring itself than with straying into...not filler, exactly, but subplots so far below the plot they may as well be. And yet...it's actually pretty good.  There is a worthwhile story, here, ludicrous or uncomfortable though it may be: orphaned step-siblings who so desperately want a sense of family that it is either mixed up with or confused for romantic yearnings for each other--and whose unwitting pre-existing relationship (author/illustrator) helps them attempt exactly that. And if you can muster the intellectual fortitude to pull off the mental gymnastics it takes to not feel disgusting for consuming all the carefully-chosen pubescent butt shots...this show is a plain old lot of fun.  Because despite the uncomfortable fanservice, despite the increasingly aimless "story," despite the entirely obfuscated crux of the series...it makes you laugh. At the show. With the show. In spite of the show. Everything's just so silly, so frivolous, so utterly bereft of pretense. Yes, it often feels like a supercut of the bath scenes from the Monogatari series, but damned if the girls aren't endearingly ridiculous. Even at the distressing rate at which the show overtly fetishizes every one of their limbs, their personalities are what keep you coming back, each so ceaselessly and carefully unbelievable in their individual absurdities that they will all but force you to crack a smile. Or hate yourself. Or vomit. (It really does depend.) But give it a shot, if you think you can take it. You might be surprised. Just make sure the door is closed when you do.
